Liam Hemsworth speaks out for the first time since news broke of his split with Miley Cyrus. Liam wished Miley "health and happiness" in his statement. The split comes 8 months after Miley and Liam got married in December 2018.
Over the weekend, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus announced that they were separating after just eight months of marriage. The couple, who have been together on-and-off for a decade, have since been pictured separately and in different countries following news of their split. Now, Liam has spoken out for the first time about the break up.
In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday 13 August, Liam expressed his wishes for Miley's "health and happiness" and called the situation "a private matter".

"Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward," the 29-year-old actor wrote on Instagram. "This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love."
Liam was spotted in Byron Bay, Australia with his brother Chris shortly after the news broke.
Miley has not commented publicly about the split, however, she did clap back at a recent Instagram comment made by Brody Jenner after she was pictured kissing his ex, Kaitlynn Carter.
Liam and Miley first met on the set of The Last Song in 2009. The couple dated and became engaged in 2012, before announcing their separation in 2013. Liam and Miley rekindled their romance in 2016 and married in December 2018.
