For those that haven't read the comics, the story follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes as they reunite, 17 years after they were first adopted together, to try and solve the mystery of their adoptive father's death (Sir Reginald Hargreeves, played by Colm Feore). There are several big names attached to the project, including Ellen Page who will play Vanya (The White Violin), Robert Sheehan as Klaus (The Séance) and Mary J. Blige who will play Cha-Cha.
As the comics are written by Gerard Way (the show is written by Jeremy Slater), showrunner Steve Blackman explained to EW how important music will be to the show. Blackman says he wanted the music to be almost “its own character” in the show. In the trailer, you can hear Way’s cover of “Hazy Shade of Winter”, originally recorded by Simon & Garfunkel in 1966, and there is the possibility of even more music from Gerard to come. Exciting stuff!
