Will there be a second series of The End of the F***ing World? We take a look at the evidence...
Obsessed with The End of the F***ing World? Same. The question on everybody's lips after watching that cliffhanger ending is whether the show will be returning for a second season. The series has attracted praise and fans from all over the world but what can fans expect from the second season of the hit Netflix via Channel 4 programme?
On August 21, 2018 it was confirmed that The End of the F***ing World would be returning for a second season. TEOFW announced the update with a tweet that simply said "we'll be f***ing back".

Netflix also confirmed the news, sharing that Charlie Covell would write the show's second series as well.

As you'll know if you finished the first season (and if you haven't, why the hell are you reading the article? Spoilers coming up...), the final episode finishes on a pretty big cliffhanger. James and Alyssa – played by Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden - are tracked down by the police. Alyssa is caught while James runs away and it ends on the ominous sound of a gun shot and the screen turning blank. The show could leave it there, like in the comics, but there is clearly so much that could be explored in the fall out.
We should really rename this question 'is James dead?' because that's what we really want to know. Seeing Alyssa come to terms with James' death could be one direction for the second season but it would also be the wrong one. The reason so many people are falling in love with the show is because of the dynamic between James and Alyssa. There's something contradictorily wholesome about the connection between these two violence-prone outsiders that we honestly can't bear to see them apart. Both Alex and Jessica have expressed an interest in a second season, so hopefully that is a good sign.
We will, of course, be praying to the TV gods for the return of Wunmi Mosaku and Gemma Whelan as our favourite lesbian TV detectives, DC Teri Donoghue & DC Eunice Noon, too.
Fans will also be keen to see the return of Frodo. Everyone fell in love with Frodo, played by Earl Cave, and we're eager to see what happened to him after the petrol station fiasco. Could we even have a Frodo spin-off?
Season 2 of 'The End of the F***ing World' appears to be in early production so a release date it unclear at this point. The show, which is a Channel 4 original may not be on Netflix for a long while.
Per Deadline, Channel 4 boss Ian Katz revealed plans to hold the series back from Netflix for at least a year after its second series premiere.
"Next time we’ll run the whole series on the channel then there will be a conventional hold back of more than a year before people see it on Netflix. It really bugs me that people think that show is a Netflix show, I really want to reclaim ownership of it, it’s absolutely a Channel 4 show,” he said.
If this plan goes ahead and fans see the second series in early 2019, Netflix viewers could have to wait until 2020 to see it on the platform.
It does not appear that filming has begun for the upcoming series.
Nope. Sorry m8.
