Oh no, does this mean there's zero chance of a 'Hannah Montana' reboot!?
Miley Cyrus just kind of crushed any hopes of getting Hannah Montana back and our hearts are broken. The 'Mother's Daughter' singer revealed the moment she realised she was over playing the Disney channel superstar in a new interview with Elle magazine.
Miley Cyrus' Instagram post about virginity has divided her fans
Miley admitted that she felt "ridiculous" playing Hannah once she'd hit 18 and had sex, after she was asked if she ever wanted to "break out of the Hannah Montana mould".
"I did once I was 18 because it felt ridiculous," she replied. "The minute I had sex, I was kind of like, I can't put the fucking wig on again. It got weird. It just felt like... I was grown up." Yeah, guess Hannah Montana isn't happening then…
If y'all remember, back in March, it appeared that a Hannah Montana reboot was in the works. A mysterious @hannahmontana Instagram account showed up out of nowhere and considering that the name is trademarked by Disney, it was looking likely that it was coming back. Miley even started following the account on Instagram and tagged them in a post, and she slipped into THAT iconic blonde wig once again.
The actress went on to explain that she realised she was "crushing the dreams" of her fans with the Hannah Montana (which ran from 2006 to 2011) facade, after seeing Peter Pan smoking a cigarette at Disneyland.
She added: "One time I went backstage at Disneyland, and Peter Pan was smoking a cigarette. And I was like, 'That’s me. That’s the kind of dreams I’m crushing. That’s how everyone felt with the bong video. But I’m not a Disney mascot. I’m a person."
Despite this, she's not ashamed of her Disney roots – especially because she counts Cardi B as one of her fans.
She continued: "It’s pretty cool when you hear Cardi B was listening to Hannah Montana when she was in high school. That shit makes me happy."
