Union J Summertime Ball On Air Interview 2014

Union J are about to shoot their new music video for ‘Tonight (We Live Forever)’, so we got them to spill all the secrets about what we can expect and what else they’ve got up their sleeves...

We were very excited to bring you the first play of Union J’s new song, ‘Tonight (We Live Forever)’ just before they performed it at the Summertime Ball for the first time – so we had to grab the boys for a chinwag about what we can expect from the video.

The boys will be shooting it this weekend and Josh Cuthbert told us, “It’s going to show off our individuality, as in what we would do at a certain time as different people." JJ Hamblett added, “It’s just going to be a really fun video, there’s going to be a lot of partying, a lot of fun."

We also heard a rumour that the video would feature a house party theme… JJ told us, “Kind of, but a little bit different. There’s a few surprises and it’s cool.” Jaymi Hensley also added, “It’s gonna be sick.”. We can’t wait!

With a killer first release, what else can we expect from the second album? George Shelley told us, “Lots of real songs, lots of real good songs. On a CD! On this album we have kind of travelled the world, we went to LA to write for a bit and we’ve been writing on the album so it’s more of us and like, the real Union J. It’s like our souls on track." Wow, sounds a bit deep…

Luckily the other lads were there to lighten the tone, with Josh commenting, “We travelled the world, we went to LA and… England." And Jaymi adding, “Bognor Regis!”. Well, Bognor is PRACTICALLY a different country, we suppose…

The boys are also back with a bit of a different look, after ditching the glossy X Factor image. Jaymi told us, “it’s such a crazy world being on X Factor, it’s just gloss and cameras and lights and you kind of get swept up in what you think you should look like. When we had the break after the first album and went on holiday, we all came back to work and our team were like, ‘Oh my God, this is the best you guys ever looked’. And we were like, ‘Well this is just our clothes from our wardrobe and us doing our own thing’. That’s what we really want to get across, we’re not looking a certain way to fit in, we’re not dressing up, we’re not doing anything over the top, we’re just coming into work in our normal kicks.” And you definitely look good for it, boys!

While they are putting a lot more of themselves into their look, the guys still have a stylist that they make the most of… Josh told us, “She’s always there for advice if we need her. Well, mainly to give us discount codes, which I use.” Send some our way, yeah?!
