The 'Carry You' star also says he was "terrified" about telling the rest of the band about the news.
Union J star JJ Hamblett says he was nervous about telling the rest of the band the news he is to become a father later this year.
The 'Beautiful Life' singer confirmed earlier this month that he and girlfriend Caterina Lopez are expecting their first child together, and has also confirmed he has no plans to leave the band when he becomes a dad.
"I was terrified because I wasn't sure how people would feel," JJ revealed to the Daily Star. 'I'd already known for a few months before I told the boys.
"I didn't want to keep it a secret but I wanted it to be the right time," he explained. "I didn’t want to tell them straight after the first single and them start panicking.
"But they've all been great, I think George is more excited than I am because he loves his cuddles so much!" the boy band star added.
"I want everyone to know it won't affect my position in Union J, I'm definitely not leaving," JJ confirmed.

The 'Carry You' singer admitted news of Caterina's pregnancy was a "massive surprise" and a "big shock", but says everything happens for a reason and he now "can't wait" to become a father.
Meanwhile, Union J are currently preparing for the release of their new single 'Beautiful Life' on 21st October.
