Last night a show source confirmed: "Gary is our favourite for the job. We are in discussions and we should have something to announce in the next couple of weeks."

But how will Gary fit it all in? Well word is ITV bosses will push auditions back until May and move dates around so Gary can concentrate on Take That's 'Progress' tour.
