After 10 years with us, Roman Kemp is saying goodbye to Capital.

Roman Kemp confirmed on Capital Breakfast on Monday morning he will be stepping down just before Easter. His last show will be Thursday 28th March.

Confirming the news to his listeners live on air, Roman revealed he’s ‘handing over the baton’ in a heartfelt moment.

Speaking with co-hosts Sian Welby and Chris Stark, Roman said: “I’ve loved every single moment of my time at Capital. The last 10 years have been amazing and hosting the legendary Capital Breakfast is the best job ever. But after almost seven years of early alarms, I’m looking forward to some lie-ins and it’s time to hand over the baton!

“It’s been a privilege and an honour to wake up millions of people every day.  It’s the best job in radio and I’ll miss our listeners and the team at Global lots. Whoever the next host of Capital Breakfast is, they’re in for the most incredible ride.”

Roman joined Capital in 2014 before hosting the prestigious The Capital Evening Show in 2016. In 2017 he moved to Capital Breakfast, taking the show nation-wide in 2019.

Ashley Tabor-King CBE, Founder & Executive President of Global, said: “Roman, it’s been a pleasure.  You’ve been a fantastic host and custodian of one of the biggest shows in UK radio, the Capital breakfast show.  I’ve loved watching you grow and grow as a broadcaster and as a person and I wish you all the very best for whatever comes next.”

I want to thank him for the incredible job he’s done for Capital over the last 10 years. We look forward to announcing the new Capital Breakfast soon.”
