Unhappy Valentines Day? 10 Songs That Make You Feel Sad

Capital rounds up some of the most depressing and emotional songs every written for Valentine's Day.

For some of us, Valentine's Day isn't exactly all roses and chocolates - instead it's a day when we have to stand and watch as lucky lovers discuss their romantic plans in our faces.

It's a day when we're reminded that we're single, or of a bad relationship - so at Capital we thought we'd celebrate this by looking at some of the saddest songs ever written.

So if you're planning to spend 14th February sitting at home wondering when your next date will be, click play on these songs by the likes of Britney Spears, Adele and The Script, and you won't feel so sad anymore.

Released in 2004, 'Everytime' was originally written by Britney in 2002 following her break-up from Justin Timberlake and is said to be a response to his track 'Cry Me A River', which publicly documented the breakdown of their relationship.
Amy Winehouse - 'Back To Black'
'Back To Black' was the title single from the late Amy Winehouse's second album and fused soul and modern R&B to create arguably one of the most memorable love songs of the century.

The Streets - 'Dry Your Eyes'
Mike Skinner's The Streets released 'Dry Your Eyes' in 2004 as part of their second album 'A Grand Don't Come For Free'. Although it was released in the summer, the track's sombre musicality sounded like being wrapped up in a blanket on a cold winter's night.
