The 'California Gurls' singer told Niall after the event that she will be his "Mrs. Robinson".

One Direction's Niall Horan and Katy Perry have joked that she's now his "Mrs. Robinson" after the 'Teenage Dream' singer planted a kiss on his lips at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012 (VMAs) last night in Los Angeles.

The 'Wide Awake' singer presented the UK boy band with the award for Best Pop Video for their single 'What Makes You Beautiful' at the VMAs 2012 last night, and puckered up for Irish member Niall as he took to the stage with his bandmates.

The 'Gotta Be You' star obliged and gave US star Katy a kiss on the lips as they picked up their award, one of three they took home in total yesterday, and the two shared a joke about it on Twitter after the event.

"Looks like its official… me and you," Niall tweeted to Katy after the VMAs 2012, with a picture of their lip lock, to which she later replied: "I'll be your Mrs. Robinson…"

Niall also posted a special thank you message to all of One Direction's fans to thank them for helping them win Best Pop Video, Best New Artist and Most Shareworthy Video at last night's annual awards show.

He posted: "Guys what the hell! You are incredible, 3 vmas! We love u all zoo much! All 3 of them are for u! Thank you!"

The night also saw One Direction take to the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to perform their hit single 'One Thing'.

Last week One Direction announced their second studio album is called 'Take Me Home' and is set to be released on 12th November.
