The 'Live While We're Young' stars picked up all three prizes they were nominated for at the industry event last night.
One Direction were the big winners at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2012 in Los Angeles last night (6th September).
The 'One Thing' stars picked up Best New Artist, Best Pop Video and Most Shareworthy Video for their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
The boyband have enjoyed huge success across the pond already this year and beat the likes of Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 and Rihanna to take home the Best Pop Video.
They also gave a live performance of their hit 'One Thing' which saw Katy Perry leaning into her close friend during the performance.
The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer also shared a kiss with Niall Horan and Harry Styles as she presented them with the best Pop Video prize.
Another public display of affection which caused a huge stir on the night was shared between Rihanna and Chris Brown.
The couple were seen hugging during the show after the R&B singer won one of his two awards on the night.
The Bajan star also picked up the much coveted Best Music Video award for the Calvin Harris featuring 'We Found Love'.
She also performed the track alongside a remix of her 'Talk That Talk' hit 'Cockiness' – which opened the show.
Rockers Green Day also took to the stage despite the recent hospitalization of frontman Bille Joe Armstrong.
Pink, Frank Ocean and Lil Wayne were also among the star performers and Alicia Keys debuted her new song 'Girl On Fire' which featured Nicki Minaj and saw US Olympic champion gymnast Gabby Douglas perform cartwheels and a small routine during the performance.
Taylor Swift closed the event with the first ever outing of new single 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'.
The country star climaxed her performance with a stage dive and was joined by a group of individuals dressed in furry animal costumes.
Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, Drake and Demi Lovato were also among the stars who scooped prizes on the night.
