Something Just Like This (Don Diablo Remix) The Chainsmokers feat. Coldplay
John & Edward are releasing their debut single this Sunday. Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby) mashes up two classic pop tracks and even includes 90s rapper Vanilla Ice performing alongside the boys. But will it make it to the top of the chart this Sunday?
Since the launch of the Big Top 40, we've seen loads of songs fly up to the top of the chart within hours after being released on a Sunday, including JLS and David Guetta & Kelly Rowland. Has this single got what it takes to fly to the top of the chart on Sunday?
Here's our checklist:
Can they make it to number 1 on Sunday? That for you to decide. Without a doubt there's enough Jedward fans out there for it to happen. The Big Top 40 top ten isn't locked down until 6pm on Sunday so it will rely on enough of you buying the single from iTunes before 6pm.
Are the two tracks mashed-up on the single any good? Under Pressure is one of the definitive tracks from Queen. Originally released way back in 1981 as a duet with David Bowie, it has perhaps the most instantly recognisable bassline in the history of pop. Vanilla Ice sampled it for his 1990 single Ice Ice Baby and Jedward have brought things full circle by putting the two tracks together. You'd be hard pushed to find two tracks that fit together better than these two.
But it's Jedward! - It's fair to say Jedward have had a mixed reaction since they started working their way through the rounds of X Factor. They're not everyone's cup of tea, but they bring a love of music and a sheer excitement when performing that all too often you don't see anymore. The Capital team have met them a few times when they've visited the studios and performed at the Jingle Bell Ball, and they are 100% genuine - what you see is what you get!
What about the haircuts? The Jedward quiff has become their trademark, but where did they get it from? Step forward Vanilla Ice. Famous for his huge quiff back in the day, it looks like time has taken it's toll on Mr Ice's once bouyant barnet, we think he's made the wise decision of leaving the quiffs to Jedward.
