Cee Lo Green hails William Shatner for 'Forget You' cover

Cee Lo has praised Star Trek star William Shatner for covering the original version of his chart topper 'Forget You'.

The actor performed the expletive version of the track which was bleeped out during an episode of US chat show Lopez Tonight.

Cee Lo said the cover has allowed him to perform the track more often now thanks to the introduction of the bleeps.

'I heard about it and I got a chance to track down the footage on YouTube,' the singer told the show.

He added: 'There was a lot of politics surrounding that record and no-one expected it to be as big of a commercial success as it was.

'We had discrepancies trying to perform it the original way but that really, really helped us.'

Cee Lo recently performed 'Forget You' at Capital's Summertime Ball.

He also performed at the 'Like It Live' event in Las Vegas.
