The 'Part Of Me' singer is planning to focus on writing her next album after her next single release.

Katy Perry says new single 'Wide Awake' is the perfect song to serve as a "last word" from her before she slows down to work on her second studio album.

The single serves as part of the soundtrack to her new concert movie Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D, and also features as the final single from her repackaged sophomore record 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection'.

"I love this song so much," Katy revealed to MTV News. "It was a song that I hadn't written for 'Teenage Dream'.

"I was doing this movie and they asked me if I wanted to write and end-title song for the movie and I was like, 'I know exactly what I want to say'," she explained. "I was really kind of dying to write another song at that point.

Katy added: "I didn't want to wait until I did a whole new record, and it's kind of the perfect last word of me at this moment."
