Anne-Marie takes on TikTok’s Gibberish challenge
Carrolton High School punished the Georgia students after being made aware of their racist TikTok content.
Two teenagers have been expelled from Carrollton High School in Georgia in the US after they made a racist video on TikTok.
Last week (Apr 16), a racist TikTok video went viral after it was reposted on Twitter. In the video, a high school couple can be seen using the n-word and racial slurs and making multiple gross, offensive and derogatory comments about black people. It goes without saying that the video was disgusting. Viewers took to social media to call out the teens and ask that they be punished.
Now, Carrollton High School have confirmed that they have expelled the two students on account of their racist actions.
In a statement about the two teens last week (Apr 17), Carrollton City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Albertus stated that their "behaviour was unacceptable and is not representative of the district’s respect for all people." He added: "The racist behaviour observed in the video easily violates this standard. They are no longer students at Carrollton High School.”
He continued to say: "It is our priority to keep our schools safe, and there is no doubt this incident has caused significant tension at Carrollton High School, across the district, state and nation, even the world."
Albertus also made clear that he personally was “deeply disturbed by the overt racist tone” of the video and in no way tolerated it.
The statement ended: "This incident does not reflect the culture of Carrollton City Schools. We are very proud of our diversity and so is our entire community. We don’t need to lose sight of this important attribute because of the actions of a few."
