Tana Mongeau shocks fans with "unrecognisable" edited Instagram photo

Tana's fans said she looked "unrecognisable" in her Instagram photo.

Tana Mongeau was up for Social Star of 2019 at Sunday night's (10 November) People's Choice Awards. The YouTuber had some fierce competition in the category from the Dolan Twins, Emma Chamberlain and her friend Shane Dawson. Alas, it was David Dobrik who walked away with the award.

Naturally, Tana wanted to remember the night and shared photos of herself from the event, wearing a red floor-length gown with matching scarlet lips on Instagram. However, after she shared the image, it ended up on Reddit's InstagramReality subreddit. There, Tana was accused of heavily editing her photo until it was left "unrecognisable".

Reddit users managed to find the real image on Getty and compared them together side-by-side. It looks like Tana has completely changed the shape of her face by narrowing down her nose and jawline. The MTV reality star also appears to have made her arm a little thinner and given herself an airbrushed appearance.

Now, Tana has never lied about her love of photo-editing app, Facetune. In 2018, Tana famously tweeted: "people keep asking, so, my skin care routine !!!!!! it’s facetune. that’s it. that’s my skin care routine [sic]." And in May 2019, she even offered a "Facetune master class tour" to her Twitter followers. So, you could kind of say she's an image altering expert.

However, this time Tana's fans thought she might have been a little too heavy handed with it and it could send the wrong message.
