The best celebrity costumes of Halloween 2018
The masks retail for $180 each and take three to four weeks to process.
It's officially spooky season (well, almost) and with Halloween just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about that all-important costume. Sure, a zombie or dead cheerleader costume is nice but why not try and embody the scariest thing of all – the Karen.
In case you didn't know, Karen is the term created by Black women used to describe middle-aged white women who talk down to people of colour and like to speak to the manager. Karens have always been around us but in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, publicly calling out Karens has practically become a daily occurrence. There was even a discussion about whether or not Karen can be deemed a slur (Note: no, it's not.)
Picking up on the whole Karen buzz, Los Angeles-based artist Jason Adcock created the terrifying mask just in time for Halloween. Unsurprisingly, Jason told Business Insider that he found inspiration for the mask whilst working in retail. Sigh.

He said: "I was starting on this year's Halloween projects and kept seeing 'Karens' pop up in my news feed and thought, 'Damn this is the real monster of 2020.'"
There are actually two Karen masks to choose from and both are available on Etsy. One has a horrifyingly angry expression, complete with bulging eyes and the instantly recognisable "can I speak to the manager?" haircut. The second mask, which has been appropriately named the KAREN-19, is similar but is covered in warts and looks a little worse for wear.
Both are made with latex and come with a styled blonde bob, lashes, and "personal paint job", the Etsy description reads.
Jason has actually received backlash from real-life Karens, who are sick of being vilified for their name, over his creation of the mask. However, he's also received an explosion of orders and both Karen masks are currently sold out.
