Katy Perry, Madonna and Cheryl have all fallen for viral fake videos of Italian residents singing their songs whilst in Coronavirus quarantine.

The year is 2020, the entire world is trying to stop the outbreak of coronavirus, and Twitter is coping the only way it knows how: by urging people to stay the f home, and also...memes.

Case in point? Following the COVID-19 outbreak, the entire country of Italy has been placed in lockdown, and residents are under quarantine. In a bid to lift spirits and morale, residents have been singing patriotic songs from their balconies and sharing the powerful videos of their neighbourhoods joining in.

The heartwarming videos have become so widely shared on social media that users are now dubbing over them with pop songs, cinematic monologues and other memes.

But things seem to have escalated to the point where the dubbing is so convincing, huge artists like Katy Perry, Madonna and even Cheryl, appear to have fallen for the fake viral footage.

Katy Perry responded "You cannot break the human spirit. We are one in this," while Madonna wrote: "Let Us All RISE UP. Everywhere around the world!!" in response to the fake videos.

A fake video featuring people singing Cheryl's 'Fight For This Love' has now been deleted but her quote tweet still remains.

People have now started adding other random soundbites over the top, including Toni Collette's Oscar-worthy monologue from Hereditary, Rihanna's 'Bitch Better Have My Money', Charli XCX's 'Track 10' and Roxxxy Andrews' verse from 'Read U Wrote U'.

The original video, for those who were wondering, featured residents in Salerno, singing along to the Italian national anthem.

In other news, Ariana Grande and various other celebrities are urging people to stay home, as advised by their governments, and not dismiss the severity of the pandemic.

Writing on Instagram, Ariana said: "It's incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation lightly. the 'we will be fine because we're young' mindset is putting people who aren't young and / or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others now."

Stay at home. Self-isolate if you have to. And wash your hands.
