The internet has discovered its latest viral meme – Christian Girl Autumn.
Thanks to Megan Thee Stallion, we're all living our best lives and doing our darnedest to enjoy Hot Girl Summer. But, it's August which means that sadly summer will soon be over and we have to think about settling down for the winter. Well, that's where Christian Girl Autumn comes in.

This week, we've seen a lot of memes. From the hilarious "fish tube" memes to Idris Elba choking on a spicy chicken wing (a personal fave), but none quite like Christian Girl Autumn. But what exactly is it? Well, that's where we come in.

Christian Girl Autumn was born thanks to a 19-year-old college student named Giovani from Long Island, New York, Buzzfeed reports. Apparently, Giovanni created the viral meme after he Googled "cute church outfits" and "all scarf outfits" having no idea it would get so much attention.
Wanting to capitalise on the popularity of the Hot Girl Summer meme, Giovanni said he thought: "Why not pretend to be a white Christian girl and mess with that?"
He didn't know the girls in the photo but simply capitalised on their typically fall aesthetic. And with their blanket scarves, matching earthy-toned outfits and perfectly curled hair, it wasn't exactly hard.

Eventually the meme made it's way back to the girls who are actually in the photo and they're two influencers from the North Carolina, who have been pals since 2013.
Emily Gemma runs the blog The Sweetest Thing and Caitlin Covington also has a blog called Southern Curls and Pearls. The photos were taken by Caitlin's mother in 2016 when they went to shoot some "fall content".
Luckily, both see the funny side of the meme and understand why they're outfits are being ridiculed. "We look so basic in our blanket scarves and holding our Pumpkin Spice Lattes," Caitlin said.
However, they both stressed that while they are Christians they don't have the same beliefs the meme assumes, like being a Republican or homophobic.
"I’m white and Christian but none of the tweets were accurate," Gemma told the publication. "I laughed at all of it but...none of it’s true. We don’t ever want to speak to the manager!"
Thanks, but we're probably going to ride the Hot Girl Summer wave a little longer.
