What happened between Charli D'Amelio and Trisha Paytas? How did James Charles get involved? Here's an explainer of all the drama.

TikTok star Charli D'Amelio (16 years old) and controversial internet person Trisha Paytas (32 years old) have become embroiled in a feud and everyone is very confused about it.

It all kicked off after the D'Amelio family posted their first 'Dinner With The D'Amelio's' video on their YouTube channel with special guest James Charles. Charli and Dixie then caught some backlash over their attitude in the video.

Two clips from the video went viral: One about Dixie's behaviour toward their personal chef and another about Charli's comments about her subscriber count. Some people, including Trisha Paytas, thought the sisters were ungrateful and "bratty".

After losing 1 million followers in 24 hours, an upset Charli went live on Instagram to address the situation and also called out Trisha, saying that she's been "completely rude" to her "multiple times". But what has Trisha actually said in the past?

Here's everything you need to know about Charli and Trisha's apparent feud...

What has Trisha Paytas said about Charli D'Amelio?

While speaking on the Frenemies podcast with Ethan Klein in October, Trisha called Charli "boring", said she wasn't a good dancer and then went on to question why Charli and Addison Rae were so popular because they're "basic". In the same podcast episode, Trish also said that Addison might become a "prostitute." She also said of Charli: "She's young, I shouldn't be this mean but also like, what? I just don't get it."

After the chef video backlash, Trisha reacted to a clip of Charli and Dixie, and later agreed with some of the criticism toward their attitude in the video. She later said that she was providing constructive criticism and commentating on "poor behaviour".

In videos posted to her TikTok account reacting to Charli's call out, Trisha explained that she wasn't gonna go off on Charli because she's a minor and instead blamed her parents and James Charles for influencing Charli. She said: "This is the internet. This is social media. People are allowed to give opinions. You have very entitled behaviour, both you and your sister. It's unbecoming."

On TikTok Live, Trisha also apologised to Charli for the podcast comments.

Trisha Paytas responds to Charli D’Amelio and slams James Charles

What did Charli D'Amelio say about Trisha Paytas?

Charli has never really responded to Trisha's comments in the past but after Trisha's reactions to the chef video, Charli felt compelled to say something.

While speaking to her fans on Instagram Live, Charli said: "The other thing is, people are just getting involved just to get involved. Trisha Paytas, you have been completely rude to me multiple times, saying 'she doesn't have a personality, she can't dance, she's basic'. You have your own problems, please stop worrying about mine. That's all I have too say on that. Please stop talking about me. You're not a very nice person. Sorry."

Dixie later waded into the Trisha drama by doing the Renegade dance on TikTok over a track of Trisha saying the n-word while rapping to N.W.A's 'Fuck Tha Police'. Dixie has deleted the video but YouTube commentator DefNoodles shared it on Twitter. Dixie is now facing huge backlash over the tweet.

James Charles responds to Trisha Paytas over "child groomer" comments

What did James Charles say about Trisha Paytas?

James took to Twitter to respond to the Charli and Dixie backlash, also referencing Trisha's involvement in the drama.

He wrote: "this charli situation is NOT sitting right with me... 100M followers in one year & y'all expect her to know how to be a perfect role model? death threats because she's a picky eater & made a joke about a milestone? 30+ year olds dragging someone half their age? feels familiar"

He also later reacted to Trisha's comments about him, calling out her 'predatory' claims over his friendship with Charli. He said: "I didn't want to respond to this because I didn't want to give Trisha the attention that she's clearly craving, however, I have now been accused of being a child groomer and this is not an accusation that I'm going to take lightly. To insinuate that the relationship between Charli and I is anything other than just a friendship is absolutely disgusting."
