If you own an Amazon Echo, you are going to definitely want to see this video...
In truly petrifying news, Alexa, the voice of the Amazon Echo device, has begun manically laughing at random. Yes, really.
YouTube user cadnisha recently uploaded a compilation of the Echo laughs that shows just how truly disturbing the sound really is:

Yikes.
Social media users and a few famous faces including Alex Gaskarth and Lili Reinhart have already expressed their horror at Alexa's sudden change of tone:
This is why I always say please and thank you to my wonderful electric future overlord. ❤️ https://t.co/mHjPds0WAN

Needless to say I unplugged my Echo and it is now sitting in the bottom of s box--away from me.
What's really weird is that I logged on tell you guys and Betty had just retweeted me.
Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh... there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.

Having an office conversation about pretty confidential stuff and Alexa just laughed. Anybody else ever have that?

It didn't chime as if we had accidentally triggered her to wake. She simply just laughed. It was really creepy.
"And I for one welcome our new robot overlords..."
Amazon gave a statement to The Verge earlier this week acknowledging the problem and confirming that they are currently working on a fix for it.
