Several years after they escaped from Guantanamo Bay, stoner buddies Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) have grown apart. Where once their lives revolved around fulfilling a mutual craving for munchies, now they have new friends and different goals.

But on Christmas Eve, a mysterious package arrives on Kumar's doorstep. His attempt to redirect it to his old chum has unfortunate consequences for Harold's father-in-law's beloved Christmas tree, which promptly burns to the ground. Now the race is on find a replacement before this heinous crime is discovered.

And that takes the guys on a mission across New York City in the middle of the party season, when almost anything can - and does - happen. Series regular Neil Patrick Harris is along for the ride in this hilarious third instalment, while 'Machete' star Danny Trejo plays Harold's father-in-law.
