The 'Little Things' singer's bandmates Louis Tomlinson is also said to have gotten some new ink last week.
One Direction star Zayn Malik has had a brand new tattoo done in honour of the band playing Madison Square Garden last week.
The 'Live While We're Young' singer is believed to have had the initials 'MSG' inked onto his arm to mark the occasion, after One Direction headlined the venue last week.
"They just gave me a buzz and I went down there," tattoo artist John Bahel revealed to MTV News. "[Zayn] was just super stoked on playing MSG and being in New York.
"He was just like super stoked that so many people came out, so many people came out from different areas of the world pretty much.
The celebrity tattoo artist also revealed that Zayn's bandmate Louis took the opportunity to have a new design done, but has refused to reveal what tattoo the boy band star went for.
"I'm pretty sure they don't want me talking about exactly what they got because that's on them. That's their personal thing, but I did not do 'MSG' on Louis.
The tattoo artist went on to say that 'Little Things' singer Zayn and him are carefully planning the star's future arm ink to make sure it 'flows" properly.
He added: "We make sure that the arm flows together when it's done cause [Zayn] was talking about how he wants to get more tattoos and if you have too many clashing tattoos on your arm it doesn't look good."
