The '99 Problems' rapper and his 40/40 restaurant partner were apparently upset at the lack of input from the New Zealand cook.

Jay-Z is reportedly suing his former personal chef, Mike Shand, for $1.5 million.

The 'Girls Girls Girls' star has filed a lawsuit against the celebrity chef on behalf of his 40/40 Manhattan restaurant claiming Shand "failed to perform" on a task to make the menu better.

"The club has not been able to adequately replace the items and services defendant was paid to provide," reads the lawsuit, according to the New York Post.

Jay and his partner Jaun Perez are accusing the chef of a lack of input – resulting in the venue losing profits, which could not be recouped.

Shand's lawyer Vik Pawar is unaware of why the lawsuit has been filed and has assured that his client will respond in due time.

"Mike's a great chef, and it is unclear why 40/40 would contemplate a lawsuit against him," he confessed. "Nevertheless, we will respond accordingly when he gets served with the complaint."

The celebrity chef has worked for the likes of Prince, Alicia Keys and Rod Stewart as well as Jay and wife Beyonce.

Meanwhile, Jay will reportedly start filming his Annie remake in spring 2013 which stars Will Smith's daughter Willow.
