The 'Lazy Song' singer's new record has been hailed by Major Lazer producer Diplo.

Bruno Mar's next album will be the "biggest thing on the planet" according to popular DJ and producer Diplo.

The Major Lazer star collaborated with Bruno on the band's new album 'Free The Universe', and gave some new hints about what Bruno's fans can expect from his second studio offering.

"Bruno is the coolest guy I've ever hung out in a studio with," Diplo told The Daily Star this week. "He's so funny and he doesn't give a s**t.

"His next album is going to be a biggest thing on the planet," Diplo teased. "It's genius pop music."

For the majority of 2012 the 'Grenade' singer has been working hard on the follow-up to his 2011 debut 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans', which spawned a string of successful singles including 'It Will Rain' and 'The Lazy Song'.

Bruno Mars revealed several months ago that he was halfway through the record and most recently tweeted the phrase 'October', hinting at an autumn release for his sophomore record.
