Man Dies After Sheffield Collision

South Yorkshire Police appeal for information after a man is killed at Spital Hill.

It happened at 4.10pm on Wednesday 22 June on the out-of-city carriageway, near an excavation and plant hire yard, close to Spital Hill's junction with Saville Street.

The 56 year old man was standing at the front of a red Nissan Cabstar when a bus apprantly swerved, hitting Nissan and pushing it along for around 20 metres.

The man fell to the ground after being hit by the Nissan and was pulled under the vehicle before being dragged along the road.

The man, from the Castlebeck area of Sheffield, suffered extensive internal injuries which proved fatal.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone with information should ring South Yorkshire Police on: 0114 2202020 and quote incident number 691 of today, 22 June.

A 52-year-old Sheffield man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
