Police in Winchester are looking for two men who robbed a student with what's thought was a gun.
The 19-year-old was walking along the footpath from Cromwell Road towards St James' Lane at around 9pm on Saturday 21 September.
About 100 yards along the alleyway, he passed two men who spoke to him and threatened him with what he believed was a small black firearm.
He handed over his iPhone and a quantity of cash. No violence was used and the aggrieved was uninjured.
The offenders ran off in the direction of St James' Lane. They are described as:
- A white man, approximately 6ft tall, early 20s, skinny build, wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and black tracksuit bottoms with a thin red stripe down the sides and a dark scarf covering his lower face,
- A man approximately 5ft 11ins tall, early 20s, slim build, wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and a black scarf across his lower face.
Detective Sergeant Matt Gillooly from Winchester CID said:
"I'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed this
incident, who saw two men matching the description of the suspects in the area at the time or who knows who is responsible.
"The victim was on his way to his friends' house nearby when this happened and is clearly shaken up by the incident. He's reported that the offenders used what he describes as a small black firearm. In that respect, this is a very unusual and isolated incident and we have had no reports of anything similar.
"We're focusing our patrols in the area and I'd like to take the opportunity to remind people in general to always stick to well lit areas and night and keep all your valuables out of sight."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Winchester CID on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
