New research shows one in seven people in Hampshire have no savings at all.
As schools prepare to start teaching money lessons to children next year, the study shows two thirds of of people already think the UK's saving culture has been lost.
Now: Pensions also say a third of us have less than £500 in savings as more than a quarter stopped saving in light of the recession and haven't saved a penny since.
The research also shows the baby-boomer generation is struggling as well with one in ten of those over 51 having no savings whatsoever.
Come September next year, schools will teach kids about saving as part of the curriculum with many believing education amongst both children and adults is key in tackling the growing pension crisis.
But some experts are concerned the country is still at risk of losing its culture of saving, spelling dire consequences for future generations.
