CCTV Released After Shop Theft

Police in Portsmouth have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following the thefts of items from a shop in Sultan Road.

It happened at around 9.55pm on Saturday, November 17.

 
A member of staff was serving a customer. As the staff member was putting the items into a bag the customer distracted him by pointing at something else. The customer snatched the bag and ran from the shop.
 
Two bottles of spirits and 40 cigarettes were stolen worth a total of £57.59.
 
The offender is described as:
 
-Average build
-Wearing a black and white checked shirt or jacket, dark black coloured trousers, black trainers and a faux fur hat covering his ears
-Carrying a blue canvas shoulder bag
 
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognises the man in the CCTV image is asked to contact the Eastern Area crime desk at Fratton police station on 101.
