Middlesbrough and Sunderland Get England U21 Call-Ups

Two Middlesbrough FC players and a Sunderland striker have been called up to play in England's under 21 match at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough have two players in the squad for next Wednesday's game against Belgium - goalkeeper Jason Steele and defender Joe Bennett.

Left-back Bennett and goalkeeper Steele have both been regulars in the squad and have retained their places for the game on home territory. 

Sunderland's Connor Whickham will join them. 

The striker, who already has five caps for the under-21s, has scored once in 16 appearances for Sunderland this season.

England will be looking for revenge against a Belgium side who inflicted the first defeat of their European Championship qualifying game.They will be managed in the Group 8 fixture by Brian Eastick, who is deputising for England caretaker manager Stuart Pearce.
