Durham's hosting its first ever film and comic festival.
'KingCon' is being held at the Gala Theatre and Cinema in the city.
The event will see stalls from comic books, collectables, jewellery, merchandise, art works and a live Tattooist across 3 floors inside the theatre.
It comes off the back of the opening of 'Dark Matter Cafe', the North East's first comic book and gaming café.
There will also be an appearance from Red Dwarf's Norman Lovett, who played ship's computer Holly.
He takes the place of Craig Charles, who pulled out after a double booking.
Dan Pye, Director of Dark Matter Events Ltd and Dark Matter Café Ltd who are behind the event, says
"We are absolutely gutted to have lost Craig Charles and have to change things to close to the event, but to the rescue is the tremendous talent that is Norman Lovett, equally a massive talent."
Expect to see some people in strange costumes in Durham on the day - as people going are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite comic or sci-fi characters. There's a competition for the best outfit!
Dan from the cafe says:
"Dark Matter Café has seen great success with this, been home to all kinds of people from different backgrounds, and some with social difficulties, some of which now volunteer, and host events at Dark Matter Café as part of their development.
We see this event developing into a great social, community engagement event where people can gather in their masses, to play, to become involved, and feel part of something great for the community.
And above all else, to support local artists, authors, and small businesses promote the things they love most.
To collect and be proud of what they enjoy, and feel a sense of recognition that this is a valued community."
