Police have named a 16-year-old girl who was killed in a hang gliding crash last week as a Warrington teenager.
Lois Preston, 16, from Great Sankey, Warrington, Cheshire, was making a solo flight at Darley Moor, Ashbourne, when the hang glider crashed to the ground just before 2pm on Friday.
On her Twitter page the teenager described herself as a ``CP paraglider on tow and hill and obsessed with Aston Merrygold'' from pop group JLS.
Her last tweet, made on Friday, said ``In a great mood!! :D''
She was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after the accident but died from her injuries, the police spokesman said.
The incident is now being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). Derbyshire Police are preparing a file for the coroner.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out today, the police spokesman added.
An inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned later this week.
The crash happened at an airfield operated by Airways Airsports.
No one was available to comment at the paragliding and hang gliding school today.
