Police trying to identify a man found injured in Plattfields Park yesterday have released more details.

Police have issued a more detailed description of him along with images of the clothes he was wearing, in the hope that someone will recognise him.

Shortly before 5.35am on Tuesday, police were called to Plattfields Park in Fallowfield, after a member of the public reported they had found an injured man.

He had been found in water in a drainage route.

The man had suffered serious multiple injuries to his head and body and remains in a critical condition.

Police say he was assault and they are trying to find out what happened to him, and how he ended up in the embankment.

The man was not carrying any ID and is described as white, fair skinned and has ginger, wavy hair. He is believed to be between 16 and 20 years old, of slim build and has blue/grey eyes.

Detective Inspector Terry Crompton from Longsight CID said: “We have issued a more detailed description of this man in the hope that someone will recognise him and get in touch with us.

“This is a truly shocking case, which has left a young man lying critically injured in a hospital bed.

“It remains a priority for my team of detectives to identify this victim and establish what exactly has happened to him. We can now say with some confidence that we believe the majority of his injuries were caused by an assault, prior to him being found at the bottom of the embankment.”
