An 18-year-old woman and two men, aged 21 and 26, have been charged with attempted murder after an attack at a Manchester park.
Shortly before 5.35am on Tuesday 28 February 2012, police were called to Plattfields Park in Fallowfield, after a member of the public reported they had found an injured man.
Officers went to the scene and found Daniel Whitely had been rescued by emergency services from the bottom of an embankment. He had been found in water in a drainage route.
He's now in a critical but stable condition in hospital - having suffered serious multiple injuries to his head and body.
Michael Brownlie (born 20/10/1985) of Erneley Close, Longsight, Nicholas Lindsay (born 07/08/1990) of Aked Close, Longsight, and Katie Mongan (born 03/12/1993) of Mount Road, Longsight, are charged with attempted murder and are due before Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Monday 5th March 2012.
It is now believed that Daniel may have been involved in an altercation at the Krunchy Fried Chicken takeaway on Wilmslow Road, opposite Owens Park, sometime between 2am and 3.30am on Tuesday 28 February 2012.
Detective Inspector Terry Crompton from Longsight CID said:
"We have now received new information about Daniel's whereabouts that morning and would ask that anyone who was at or near the takeaway between 2am and 3.30am contacts us.
"If you were in the Plattfields Park or the surrounding area on Monday night or Tuesday morning and saw or heard anything you think may be linked to this case, then please get in touch with us. We are determined to establish the facts so we can provide Daniel's family with some much needed answers.
"However insignificant you think your information may be, it could actually be vital to our investigation."
