Man Charged With Murder Over Toddler Death

20-year-old Ben Raftery from Gorton is in court today charged with murder.
He was looking after the child while her mum was on a surprise trip to New York with her dad to celebrate her 21st. She had been there for two hours when she was told.
Police were called by the ambulance service on the early hours of Saturday 10th March 2012 to a confrontation at Elizabeth Street in Ashton-Under-Lyne.
Two-year-old Roxie Jo-Anne Archer had sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, but sadly died on the Sunday.
A post morten examination found that Roxie died from a head injury.
