Greater Manchester Olympic Torchbearers Named

The lucky few in the area found out they've bagged the chance to carry the Olympic flame today.

2 people from the area got their first conditional offers to carry the Flame next summer.

Among the first people to be offered a place was Thai boxing champion, instructor, judge and referee, 20-year-old Andrew Lofthouse, from Oldham, who was nominated through Coca-Cola's public nomination programme.

Andrew said: "I am delighted to be offered the chance to be a torchbearer for the 2012 torch relay, to be involved with the Olympics is an honour."

Another candidate is Cameron Foster, 16, from Wigan, who was also nominated through Coca-Cola's campaign for helping less able young people get involved in sport inspired by his own skiing accident and long rehabilitation.

They have until the 25th January to accept.

The torch will be in our region next June
