Investigation Into Suspicious Package

Enquiries 'ongoing' in Leicestershire after army bomb disposal team is called out

People in Kirby Muxloe have been thanked by police for their patience after an incident in Castle Road on Tuesday (11 August).

Just after 7am police were called after a member of the public reported finding a bag on the pavement which looked like it had a suspicious device inside.

As a precautionary measure officers cordoned off the area whilst enquiries were carried out to determine the contents of the bag.

Barwell Road at the junction of Church Road was closed off to all vehicles and pedestrians.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were called to the scene and examined the contents.

The road was re-opened just before 5pm. Detectives say enquiries are now 'ongoing' into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
