Event To Mark Anniversary

Family of Philpott children say they want to help other youngsters in Derby.

6 white doves will be released in Derby later on the first anniversary of the deaths of six children in a house fire.

Jade Philpott and her brothers John, Jack, Jayden, Jessie and Duwayne will be remembered at a special event at Osmaston park - organised by their cousin Michelle Bestwick.

Michelle told Capital the support from the community in Allenton has been so amazing over the last year - and that she wants the children's memory to live on AND make sure other young people benefit too.

The family are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for local charity Catch Me When I Fall - to help children in Derby, and potentially nationally too.

They're expecting hundreds, if not thousands of people at the event at Osmaston Park from 1pm today - where there'll be events every hour, including a dance show, dog show and fancy dress competition.
