Derby Actor Named 'Rising Star' At BAFTAs

Derby actor Jack O'Connell has won the Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs.

Jack says he was inspired to get into acting when he was young, going to a TV workshop in Nottingham.

The actor from Alvaston has told Capital he's 'elated' to have won and was on a tight leash at the awards because his mum and sister were with him

Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Kristen Stewart have all won it in the past.

Other Awards

Eddie Redmayne won Best Actor for his role in "The Theory of Everything".

The film about Stephen Hawking also won Outstanding British Film.

'Boyhood' won the Best Film, with critics predicting it'll do well at the Oscars.

'The Grand Budapest Hotel' got five awards, all in technical categories.

Julianne Moore was named Best Actress for 'Still Alice'.
