Firearms officers were called to a street in Leicester last night after reports of a gun being fired.

A 19-year-old has cuts and bruises but officers say none of his injuries were from a gunshot wound.

A cordon is still up around Kashmir Road while police investigate.  They were called at 10pm last night and say a car has been damaged.

DI Alex Hathaway, who is investigating the incident said: “If you were in the area and saw or heard anything, or you know anything about the incident, please call us immediately.

“We have got officers in the area conducting enquiries and high visibility patrols for reassurance. We would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to them.

“We take incidents such as this very seriously and over the next few days there will be additional officers in the area, on top of the dedicated team which patrols this part of the city.”
