Arrest After West Bromwich Hit-And-Run

A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run in West Bromwich which killed a 15-year-old cyclist.

The 21-year-old was questioned and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving yesterday after warrants were conducted at three addresses in Tipton and West Bromwich.

15-year-old Adam Jones was hit by a blue Volkswagon Bora as he crossed the junction of Beacon View Road and Walsall Road, West Bromwich, with his bike, just after 7.30pm on Thursday 26 March. 

The driver abandoned the vehicle and ran off without calling for help for Adam.

Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “These warrants have been executed based on information received primarily from members of the public and I would urge anyone with further information to come forward to help our investigation.

“We are closing in on the person responsible for Adam’s death and I would appeal to that person directly to do the right thing and hand himself in.”
