Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a cycle track in the Wincolmlee area of Hull.
A 51-year-old woman was cycling alone in the early hours of this morning when she became aware of a man on a bicycle close by on Wincolmlee.
He followed the woman along Woodhall Street to a cycle track that runs between Chamberlain Road and Leads Road where he tried to engage her in conversation.
As they approached the allotments near Rix Road, he pushed the woman from her cycle, knocking her to the ground where he subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The man then left the area on his cycle.
He is described as a white man, skinny build, with a long, thin face and wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up and riding a bicycle that had three white carrier bags hanging from the handle bars.
The victim sustained minor injuries and received treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Detective Sergeant Steve Precious said:
"Officers are treating this as an isolated incident and would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are rare."
