Detectives investigating reports of a gun being fired near Doncaster last week have issued an appeal to trace a group of teenage boys.

At around 6pm on Wednesday 20 January, shots were fired in the Frederick Street/Whitelee Road area of Mexborough.

Officers want to speak to a group of teenage boys who were walking in the area at the time. They were reportedly wearing dark clothing and hooded tops. The teenage boys are described as being slim and between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 7ins tall.

Three men were arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further enquiries.

A separate report of shots being fired through the window of a property in Victoria Road, Mexborough, remains under investigation by police and at this time it is not clear whether the incidents are linked.
