Sheffield Mum Murder Charge Man Remanded

A man accused of killing his mum in Sheffield has appeared in court this morning.

57 year old Margaret Hobson, died from multiple stab wounds she suffered at her home in Lister Road, Walkley, on Friday.

Her son, Scott, also of Lister Road, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court for a five-minute hearing.

He stood in the dock wearing a blue T-shirt and flanked by security officer, and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Hobson was told he will appear next at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday.

Earlier, Mrs Hobson's husband, Michael, issued a statement on behalf of the family which said: “We are devastated at the loss of Margaret Hobson, our much-loved, caring and thoughtful wife, mother and grandmother.”

It said: “She brought so much joy to all of our lives and will be sorely missed.”
