Sheffield Boy Run Over By Ghost Train

A six-year-old who was run over by a ghost train needed a skin graft after suffering serious burns.

Thomas Russon, of Sheffield, was riding with his sister when he became trapped underneath one of the cars at Botton's Pleasure Beach, Skegness on Monday.

The train had to be lifted off him before he was taken by air ambulance to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

He suffered extensive bruising and burns to the abdomen with his family adding he will need surgery next week.

His father David Russon said: "It was shocking and terrifying seeing him stuck under the car and lying there unconscious.

"Our focus now is on making sure he gets the best possible treatment so that he is back on his feet as soon as possible.

"We don't yet know exactly what happened and it is vital that there is an urgent investigation so that any issues with the ride or the safety shut off mechanisms can be identified to prevent any other children also getting injured. We don't want anyone else to suffer as Thomas has.''

Park bosses say they don't know how he managed to climb out in the first place.

The Health and Safety Executive confirmed it is aware of the incident.
