Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in Leeds city centre have released CCTV footage of the suspected attacker.
The 24-year-old victim was approached by the man in Mark Lane at 5.05am on Friday, August 14. He tried to engage her in conversation before subjecting her to a serious sexual assault. She resisted and managed to escape.
He was described as black, aged 30 to 40, tall, with a shaved head. He was wearing a long black overcoat and black trousers. He may have been carrying man's shoulder bag.
Detective Inspector John Dexter, of Leeds District CID, said: "We have been carrying out an extensive trawl of CCTV cameras and have identified footage of the suspect walking around the city centre. He presents quite a distinctive figure and we hope that someone will recognise him from these images.
"We believe he may have approached other women in the period leading up to this attack and we would like to hear from anyone who has encountered him.
"The victim has been left badly traumatised by this incident and it is imperative that we identify and arrest this man at the earliest opportunity."
