Missing Boy In Barnsley: Body Found

A body's been found in the search for missing Barnsley boy Conley Thompson.

The body was found at approximately 8.30am. Formal identification of the body is yet to take place, however it is believed to be that of Conley.

His family have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Victoria Short leading the investigation said:
“We deployed our full resources with officers searching throughout the night to find Conley and we are deeply saddened by this tragic development.

“While it is early in the investigation, the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place in due course.

“Our thoughts remain with Conley’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”

Police are growing increasingly concerned as to the whereabouts of a 7-year-old boy from Barnsley who has been missing since 8pm on Sunday evening.

Conley Thompson was last seen at Locke park in Barnsley where he had gone to play with his friends at around 6pm.

He is believed to have left the park at around 8pm and was due to return home to Underwood Avenue in Worsbrough, however he never turned up and was reported missing shortly after.

Conley is white and has very short mousey brown coloured hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a blue checked shirt, red shoes, a black coat and brown trousers.

A number of enquiries have already been made in a bid to trace Conley’s location and officers would urge anyone who believes they may have seen him to please call 101 quoting incident number 1148 of 26 July 2015.
