Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were injured, one seriously, in a traffic incident early this morning in Sheffield city centre.
A black hackney carriage stopped at traffic lights on Carver Street at the junction with Division Street when a number of males climbed onto the outside of the vehicle.
The taxi then moved off from the lights towards Charter Square and two men fell from the vehicle.
A 29-year-old man from Woodhouse, Sheffield, sustained a fractured skull from the incident, described as a ‘serious’ injury. He was taken to the Northern General Hospital and detained overnight.
An 18-year-old man from Intake, Sheffield, sustained a minor head injury. He was taken to NGH but not detained.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the men or the taxi prior to the incident.
