Police have charged a driver in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident in West Yorkshire in which a six-year-old boy was killed.
Owen Wightman was struck by a car while out playing with a friend close to his home in Wakefield on June 18.
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "A 21-year-old man from Huddersfield has today been charged with death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.
"He has been bailed to appear at Wakefield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday November 29.''
Shortly after his death, Owen's parents, Joanne, 33, and Neil, 31, said they had lost their "baby''.
The statement said: "He was a perfect little man who was taken from us - just perfect in every way.
"He walked into a room and lit it up. He was our bundle of joy and our little ray of sunshine.''
Owen had two brothers - Jack, 12, and one-year-old Thomas.
