Attempted Abduction In Sheffield
South Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after an alleged attempted abduction that took place at 10.10pm on Saturday, 12 May, 2012, close to the Birley area of Sheffield.
It is believed that a 14-year-old girl was walking along Birley Spa Lane, near to the Golden Plover pub when a car pulled up alongside her on the wrong side of the road. It is believed a man has told her to get into the car before grabbing her by the arm and attempting to drag her into the vehicle.
The teenager was able to struggle free from the man’s grasp before running down Birley Spa Lane where the vehicle has tried to follow her, before she was able to leave the area.
The car involved is described as an ‘old-style’ maroon-coloured saloon.
The suspect is described as an Asian man between 48 and 50-years-old, 5ft 6ins tall, medium build, with bushy black eyebrows and gelled black hair. The man was clean-shaven, wearing a black t-shirt with navy blue writing on it and dark denim jeans.
South Yorkshire Police is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen something suspicious to call 101.
